Outreach at Kingston College
We held a stall at Kingston College Freshers fair in the gymnasium on Wednesday, 11th September along with a mix of charities, food companies and Kingston college specific stands.
We engaged a number of 16-18 year olds in the work of Healthwatch Kingston and spread the word about the Time to Change Kingston hub.
We spoke to a total of 120 young people asking them the question “what do you do to support your mental wellbeing?” The students gave a large variation of answers by sticking post-it notes on our board.
In some cases we rephased the question to 'What makes you feel better?' and this was interesting to see how the young people mad the connection with mental wellbeing, therefore reducing stigma and misconceptions about what mental health and wellbeing really mean.
We received some positive feedback from the Enrichment Team at the college:
“I just want to say a massive thank you for coming to our Freshers’ Fair yesterday. We were so impressed by the effort put into making your stall interactive and engaging for the students.
Thank you for making the event a success, we received really great feedback from students.”
