Healthwatch (In South West London) survey: Patient and carer experiences of accessibility in GP services

Healthwatch organisations in South West London are conducting surveys to understand your experiences with GP services as someone covered under the Accessible Information Standard (AIS). It should take 10 minutes to complete.

What is the Accessible Information Standard? The Standard sets out how health and care services must meet the communication and information needs of people with certain disabilities or conditions such as neurodiversity, sensory loss, certain neurological conditions, and/or learning disability. A great 5-minute video that explains the Standard is available here: https://youtu.be/ZJngMo37WvA.

Who should take this survey? People covered under the Standard who go to a GP practice in South West London and carers of people covered under the Standard who go to a GP in South West London are invited to participate.

Who is conducting this survey? The six Healthwatch organisations in South West London (Croydon, Merton, Kingston, Richmond, Sutton, and Wandsworth) are collaborating on this project. You can read more about the project here: https://www.healthwatchwandsworth.co.uk/news/2024-04-11/south-west-london-healthwatch-accessible-information-standard-project

Why are you conducting this survey? We aim to improve the experiences of people with certain conditions and disabilities that affect their ability to understand and communicate important information about their health and care. Our goals are to make GP practices more accessible and to reduce health inequalities.

Will I get paid to take part in this Survey? Upon completing this survey, we will send you a £15 voucher. You will need to share your personal details so that we can send the voucher. Your personal information will remain confidential and will not be shared.

Can I remain anonymous? Yes. As stated above, you will need to share your contact details if you wish to receive the participation voucher, but this is optional.

Who can I contact if I have any questions? Please contact Iyinoluwa Oshinowo, South West London Healthwatch Engagement Coordinator, at Iyinoluwa@swlhealthwatch.org.uk. You can also contact Alyssa Chase-Vilchez, South West London Executive Officer, at alyssa@swlhealthwatch.org.uk.
